Meeting between FoodHub and representatives of the Association of Beekeeping Organizations of Montenegro and the Directorate for Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Affairs

The meeting was attended by various members of staff at FoodHub, including the Director of the Centre of Excellence, Prof. Aleksandra Martinović; Prof. Radenka Krsmanović Whiffen, the Assistant Director; Anđela Nišić, MSc., a young researcher at the Centre of Excellence; Giuseppe Paderni, MSc., Director of the Laboratory for Food Quality and Safety and Sanja Savković, a Laboratory Associate. The Association of Beekeeping Organizations of Montenegro was represented by its President, Radule Miljanić and its Technical Secretary, Vladimir Radulović. The Directorate for Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Affairs also participated in the meeting, with Biljana Blečić, Lazar Daković and Sunčica Boljević in attendance.

Prof. Živoslav Tešić, from the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Belgrade, and Dr. Katja Bohm, from the Eurofins Food Integrity Control Services, Germany, also attended the meeting virtually.

The meeting was organized in order to strengthen cooperation between all the institutions present, and in particular to provide support to honey producers in Montenegro on their path to business success. Special attention was paid to issues of the protection and demonstration of the authenticity of honey originating in Montenegro. As a result of this meeting, it was agreed that a series of special lectures and workshops for beekeepers will be organized later this year.
