Greener AgRo-fooD logistics in the mEditerraneaN area
The Centre of Excellence (FoodHub) at the University of Donja Gorica (UDG) is participating as a partner in the project "Greener AgRo-fooD logistics in the mEditerraneaN area" (GARDEN), aimed at improving ecological logistics for food supply and managing bio-waste, packaging, and used containers in Mediterranean cities. The project, with a total budget of 2.3 million euros, will be implemented over 33 months starting from January 2024. It includes six pilot demonstrators in Spain, France, Italy, Greece, and Bulgaria to support the ecological transition.
The project focuses on long-term sustainability by addressing economic, organizational, and technological issues related to the energy transition. Through a "living lab" approach, the consortium will identify key factors to secure the entire supply chain from producer to consumer by effectively connecting various stakeholders. The experimental results will enable recommendations for urban transformation and infrastructure development to meet future challenges.
The consortium consists of 10 partner and 9 associated partners from the public and private sectors, specializing in logistics, carbon-neutral solutions, and support for energy transition policies.
