Internationally prominent scientist Dr Radenka Krsmanović Whiffen joined the team of the Center of Excellence

Dr Radenka Krsmanović Whiffen received her doctorate from EMAT research group (Electron Microscopy for Materials Science) at the University of Antwerp in Belgium in 2006. Her main areas of scientific interest are Applied Physics and Material Science, with a particular focus on luminescent nanomaterials, optically active ceramics and biopolymer-based composites. She was awarded a 6-month “Research in Paris” Grant by the Mairie de Paris in 2013, hosted at Chimie ParisTech, and recently completed her two-year MSCA Individual Fellowship in Physics at ENEA Casaccia in Rome, Italy, financed by the European Union under Horizon 2020. Her project, NanoPyroMat, examined zinc sulfide in the form of nanopowders its potential application in pyroelectric energy harvesting. She is the founding Chair of the MCAA Western Balkans Chapter. Since 2018, she has been an Expert Evaluator and Rapporteur at the Research and Executive Agency (REA) of the European Commission, while also reviewing for COST actions and a range of national scientific organisations.

She has published more than 40 papers in international scientific journals and has given over 90 presentations at international and national scientific conferences. She has also received a number of national and international awards and scholarships for her research.
