Kick-off meeting of the ViFoodFree NET project consortium

On 09.05.2023, an online meeting of the consortium of the project "Integrated Monitoring, Bridging the Knowledge Gap and Control of Foodborne Viral and Bacterial Contamination in Food Supply Chain (ViFoodFree NET)" was held.

The meeting was attended in front of the Centre of Excellence (FoodHub): Prof. Aleksandra Martinovic, the principal investigator on the project, Giuseppe Paderni, M.Sc., deputy director of FoodHub, as well as young researchers: Andrea Milacic, M.Sc., spec. sci. Nadja Raicevic, B.Sc. Eng. Ana Jovanovic and Amil Orahovac, MSc.

The meeting was also attended by representatives of partner institutions: Prof. Mirjana Dimitrijevic and Prof. Nedjeljko Karabasil in front of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Belgrade; Prof. Chunlei Shi in front of Shanghai Jiao Tong University; Dr Werner Ruppitisch in front of the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES) and Prof. Julio Enrique Parra Flores from the University of Bio Bio in Chile.

Planned activities within the project were discussed at the meeting. The meeting ended at 2 pm.

The main objective of the ViFoodFree NET project is the development of an effective strategy for the control and monitoring of food-associated microbial hazard patterns along the food production chain. The results will enable accurate identification and enumeration of the selected microorganisms and determination of their prevalence in the most significant food industry branches (meat, dairy and fruit & vegetable).
