Meeting with the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment of Germany (BfR) - project partner

On 30.11.2020. at the University of Donja Gorica, an online meeting was held with partners from the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment of Germany (BfR).

The meeting was attended by representatives of UDG: the director of the Center, prof. Dr. Aleksandra Martinović, Dr. Sandra Tinaj, president of the Advisory Board, prof. Dr. Dijana Đurović on behalf of the Institute of Public Health of Montenegro, director of the laboratory for food quality and safety Giuseppe Paderni, prof. Dr. Ivana Zuber, young researchers engaged in the project, as well as representatives of the German Institute: Anja Buschulte, Estibaliz Lopez de Abechuco Garrido, Matthias Fischer, Maria Borowiak, Jens-André Hammerl and Burkhard Malorny.

The meeting was organized in order to present the main activities of the project, i.e. all activities in which the excellence of the BfR is necessary and extremely important.

At the beginning of the meeting, all present were greeted by prof. Dr. Aleksandra Martinović, who introduced the partners to the University of Donja Gorica and the efforts that UDG invests in order to encourage students to new ideas and projects. Professor Martinović emphasized the importance of cooperation with the partners that make up the consortium, and once again emphasized that the excellence, i.e. the excellence of the partners, guarantees the success of the FoodHub project.

Giuseppe Paderni, presented to the partners the Laboratory for Food Quality and Safety, as well as other laboratories that UDG will provide for the needs of the Center of Excellence. The importance of the same in the process of assessing the microbiological safety of food was emphasized.

Representatives of the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment of Germany, Burkhard Malorny and Matthias Fischer presented their laboratories (Wet, Dry etc.) which they make available for cooperation. Other participants presented the tools and softwares they use for primary analysis, analysis and risk assessment in the food production chain and evaluation of results.

Partners from the German Institute also provided support through proposals for the implementation of courses and training in the field of risk assessment and food safety, in order to share the knowledge and experience they have in their work so far. They emphasize the importance of training young researchers in the field of molecular biology techniques, statistics and IT tools that can be applied in areas that are important for the implementation of this project.

During the meeting, it was concluded that the focus is the exchange of knowledge, experiences and good practice in the fields of: Food Safety, Food Authenticity, Risk Assessment in the Food Production Chain and Application of IT in these analyzes.
