Montenegrin National Food System Based Dietary Guidelines - a pathway to healthy nation: MAP2HEALTH

The Centre of Excellence (FoodHub) UDG is a partner in the new project titled „Montenegrin National Food System Based Dietary Guidelines - a pathway to healthy nation: MAP2HEALTH“. The project coordinator is the Public Health Institute of Montenegro, with MGSOFT company also participating as a project partner. The project is funded through the IPA II EuropeAid/175156/ID/ACT/ME call: "Support to the Implementation of the Smart Specialization Strategy through Projects".

The general objective of the project is to improve the link between food science and the public, through cooperation with the food industry, all in the interest of protecting public health by strengthening the capacity of young researchers.

The specific objectives of the project include: developing an evidence-based database for the development of national dietary guidelines based on the food system; developing a digital tool for creating balanced nutrition; and providing assistance to every citizen in Montenegro in planning proper nutrition.

The main activities of the project are focused on:

  • Improving the link between food and health science and the public, through cooperation with the food industry, consumers, and health practitioners, aiming towards the ultimate national goal of proper nutrition and public health protection.
  • Creating a solid cooperation platform between research institutions and companies, involving young researchers, in line with the priorities of Montenegro's Smart Specialization Strategy.
  • Enabling every citizen in Montenegro to plan personalized proper nutrition, based on scientific knowledge and recommendations.
  • Enabling the creation of food system-based dietary guidelines.
  • Developing an evidence-based database necessary for formulating guidelines will enable extensive evaluation of food intake at the individual and/or population group levels, nutrition planning, food design/reformulation, food labelling, etc.

The project officially started on November 1, 2023, and will last for 12 months.
